EmbedQuote ("we," "us," or "our") provides tools that let businesses build and embed pricing calculators on their websites. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
By using EmbedQuote you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
1. Information We Collect
Account information
When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and a password. Passwords are hashed using scrypt before storage — we never store your password in plain text and cannot retrieve it.
Calculator configuration
We store the calculator definitions you build: field names, pricing options, formulas, and display settings. This data is necessary to serve your embedded calculators to your website visitors.
Session data
When you log in, we set a signed, HttpOnly session cookie to keep you authenticated. This cookie does not track you across other websites and is deleted when you log out or after 8 hours of inactivity.
Server logs
Our servers automatically record standard information for each request: IP address, browser type, referring URL, and the time of the request. These logs are used for security monitoring and diagnosing errors, and are not sold or used for advertising.
Embed widget requests
When a visitor loads a page that contains one of your embedded calculators, their browser makes a request to our API to fetch the calculator configuration. We log this request (see "Server logs" above) but we do not set cookies on your visitors or fingerprint their devices.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and authenticate your account.
- To store and serve your calculator configurations.
- To respond to support requests.
- To detect abuse, prevent fraud, and enforce our terms.
- To improve the reliability and performance of the service.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data to serve you advertisements.
3. Data Sharing
We do not share your personal information with third parties except in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers. We may use third-party vendors (e.g. hosting, email delivery) who process data on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of EmbedQuote, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers. If EmbedQuote is acquired or merged, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you beforehand.
4. Your Calculator's Visitors
When you embed a calculator on your website, your visitors interact with a widget served by EmbedQuote. The calculator performs all price calculations locally in the visitor's browser — their input values are never sent to our servers. We do not collect, store, or process any information about your website visitors beyond the server log entry generated when the calculator configuration is fetched.
If you collect leads or contact information through your website in connection with your calculator, that data is yours and subject to your own privacy policy.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account and calculator data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information and calculator configurations within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or security purposes.
6. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including hashed password storage, signed session cookies, rate limiting on authentication endpoints, and HTTPS encryption in transit.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate information.
- Request deletion of your account and associated data.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Receive a portable copy of your data.

8. Cookies
We use one cookie: a session cookie named connect.sid.
It is set only when you log in, is marked HttpOnly (not readable by
JavaScript), and expires after 8 hours. We do not use analytics
cookies, advertising cookies, or any third-party tracking scripts.
9. Children's Privacy
EmbedQuote is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top and, for material changes, notify registered users by email. Continued use of EmbedQuote after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
